The MacIntosh Pipe Band, nee McIntosh Flashers, mourns the loss of longtime member Neil Fetter. Neil, who began piping in 1956 in Southern California, was the Pipe Major of the Macpherson Pipe Band for many years. He moved to the Bay Area in the 1980's and came across the fledgling McIntosh Flashers Pipe Band at the Corte Madera Highland Games. Neil became Pipe Sergeant of the band and competed in our first contest in Dixon in 1990 and in Inverkeithing on the band's trip to Scotland in 2001, as well as everything in between. No job was too small for his taste, and he took on one of our annual commitments, the Pixie Parents Halloween parade, with one other piper every year for close to two decades. Neil's quirky sense of humor, his delight in truly awful puns and shaggy dog stories, and his signature laugh were rivaled only by his great loyalty to the band. He is truly missed and we are grateful to have had the pleasure of his company and his playing.
